Bringing some BRIO to Team Gleason’s mission

Vim. Vigor. Vitality to live well, no matter what!  This is BRIO.  This is Team Gleason. This is what we strive to achieve every day.

When the opportunity presented itself to get involved with Team Gleason and chair the Counselor Classic Golf Scramble event, Rich Baudry jumped at the chance.  The event and its mission seemed to perfectly align with BRIO’s goals: to create a life full of vim, vigor, and vitality for ALS warriors no matter what.

Rich Baudry, Jay Quinlan (an ALS warrior and friend of Rich) and a group of his closest friends created the “Counselor Classic” to help raise awareness and funds for ALS research and equipment.  The event was held on September 16 at Metairie Country Club and brought together a dynamic group of volunteers and generous sponsors.

“It was truly wonderful to be a part of The Counselor Classic Golf Scramble event benefitting Team Gleason. With such a great turnout, we were able to raise awareness and funds for ALS, as well as spread a little BRIO. Our goal is to make people better off for spending time with us.  This event was a great opportunity to do just that,” said Rich Baudry, Chair of the event.

All proceeds from the event went toward Team Gleason’s efforts to empower people with ALS to live as independently as possible, despite the disease. Team Gleason has provided almost $10 million in adventure, technology, equipment, and care services to over 15,000 people living with ALS and countless others through advocacy, support, and research. Simply put, their mission is to help people living with ALS live a better life.

As Steven Gleason states on his website, “Life is difficult. Not just for me or other ALS patients. Life is difficult for everyone. Finding ways to make life meaningful and purposeful and rewarding, doing the activities that you love and spending time with the people that you love – I think that’s the meaning of this human experience.”

We couldn’t agree more! What a wonderful event and a wonderful life mission.  If you have the ability to get involved, contribute time or money to the ALS cause, please check out Team Gleason.  It’s a truly wonderful organization.
