Physical Therapy Month – Daily Tip
APTA- Move Forward Tip of the Day: “Succeed with a low impact fitness program before increasing intensity to reduce injury risk.” – Alicia F., PT, DPT, from Kentucky
This is a great tip. All too often people go out too hard and too aggressive. And as a result they get hurt and they quit.
The higher the impact, the greater the forces on the body. This increase in force demands more strength. Without the strength and stability for an activity, your body will fail.
When starting a new exercise, start slowly. Prove to yourself that you have the strength to do it. As you gain strength your endurance for the activity will naturally increase.
Set your goals high but take small steps to get there.
