Knee Surgery Didn’t Stop Her From Running
Hitting the Pavement after Knee Surgery
For the past three years, I have enjoyed running to stay fit and healthy! I started experiencing intense knee pain which became unbearable and affected routine activities like walking up stairs. It was hard to go for a run or workout without serious pain. I had no cartilage in my knee and was told surgery was required. After surgery, my doctor told me I had a 50% chance of running again. It just depended on how my recovery went. I was nervous because I wanted so badly to be able to run again.
Starting Physical Therapy at Baudry Therapy Center
Choosing a PT place was a big deal for me. I wanted to be sure I was going to the best of the best. Walking into BTC on crutches, I never would have thought I would be where I was five weeks in. The therapists went out of their way to make sure I was getting the best treatment plan. I’m not going to lie and say it was easy because I did have my ups and downs, but I definitely had more ups than downs. I can be very hard on myself and when I wasn’t on track and getting were I needed to be quickly, my therapists were there to tell me to be patient. A major surgery requires time and when you don’t rush the recovery, your outcome is ten times better. I can’t thank my therapist enough for being the positive light I needed during my recovery.
Many people don’t realize how beneficial PT can be. I sure didn’t. If I could talk to everyone about it and let them know how much better life can be rather than dealing with the pain, I would. For the longest time I “just dealt with it” but there comes a time when enough is enough. I can say 110% that Baudry Therapy Center helped me return to running.
