BRIO Fitness Challenge for March is the “JUMP ROPE”

Jumping rope is a great way for active kids and adults to burn calories, strengthen muscles, build bone, and build cardiovascular endurance.  Our athletes also use jumping rope to build ankle strength and stability to reduce the risk of ankle sprains on the court or field. You’ll need a 6 x 6 foot area, 1 foot of space above your head, and a jump rope.  For novice jumpers, a beaded rope is recommended because it holds its shape and is easier to control than a lightweight cloth or vinyl rope.

See how many seconds you can add up jumping rope this month! Pick up your BRIO fitness calendar to keep track of your progress.

BRIO February Fitness Challenge

BRIO February Fitness Challenge is the “Wall Sit”

A traditional exercise for those going skiing, the wall sit has been around for a long time. It is a great exercise not only for thigh strength but also for proximal hip stability.

Whether because you are skiing for Mardi Gras or just looking for more Brio in 2014, take the “Brio February Wall Sit Challenge.”

For the month of February include the wall sit in your workouts. Keep track of the number of seconds you wall sit throughout the month of February, and show us how and why you wall sit.

Don’t forget that there are prizes for the winners!
