3 for Thursday – Better Health through Attitudes, Commitments, and Beliefs

Each day I am fortunate to have the opportunity to help people reach for their health and fitness goals. And over my 18 years of being a physical therapist I have seen 3 common attributes for success.

Whether it is recovering from an injury, losing weight, or becoming an elite athlete, Attitudes, Commitments, and Beliefs are 3 keys to success.

For today’s 3 for Thursday here are  great quotes on attitudes, commitments and beliefs:

ATTITUDES:

“Your mental attitude is something you can control outright and you must use self discipline until you create a positive mental attitude – your mental attitude attracts to you everything that makes you what you are.” – Napoleon Hill

“Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you’ll start having positive results.”  – William Nelson

“If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”  – Wayne Dyer

BELIEFS:

“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.”   -Albert Einstein

“Every human being is the author of his own health or disease.” – Sivanada

“You can set yourself to be sick, or you can choose to stay well.”  – Wayne Dyer

COMMITMENTS:

“Never, never, never give up.” – Winston Churchill

” You see, in life, lots of people know what to do, but few people actually do what they know. Knowing is not enough! You must take action.”  –Anthony Robbins

” Where there is a will there is a way, is an old saying. He who resolves upon doing a thing, be that very resolution often scales the barriers to it, and secures its achievement.”   – Samuel Smiles

I love inspirational quotes. What are some of your favorite quotes?

3 for Thursday: Health and Fitness Tips

I’m not sure where the saying “if I were not laughing, I’d be crying” come from, or exactly what it means, but it must stem from the pain relieving effects of laughing. According to Robin Dunbar, an evolutionary psychologist at Oxford, the physical act of laughing, the simple muscular exertions involved in producing the familiar ha, ha, ha, he said, trigger an increase in endorphins, the brain chemicals known for their feel-good effect. So the next time you are suffering from pain and want to cry, find something to make you laugh, like funny movies, old times, or funny friends.

Habitual everyday postures can lead to many aches and pains. Improving your awareness of the postures you assume throughout the day can really help how you feel. Read about how everyday postures can affect you.

We all know that exercise and physical activities are good for us. This article provides some insight in how to get more active and the power of everyday exercise.
